Soham Village College students raise £1,300 for Sport Relief
Soham Village College has raised more than £1,300 for Sports Relief by holding a number of fundraising activities.
They held a non-uniform day, Year 7 and 8 fun run, students against staff penalty shoot-out and a tug of war.
The events came after students held their own ‘Great British Bake Off’ themed competition in aid of the charity.
Jocelyn Whittle of the college said: “The students either prepared their cakes at home and decorated them in school or spent two lunch times cooking and decorating here ready for judging.
“The judge was Mr Peacock from Peacock’s Tearoom in Ely.
“Mr Peacock and the teaching staff were very impressed with the creativity and enthusiasm shown.
“The students worked really hard to get their cakes ready in time.”
The overall winners were two Year 8 students: Chelsea Cross and Alana Millington, who have each won tea for two at Peacock’s Tearoom in Ely.
Jocelyn added: “We would like to thank students, parents and carers for all their support.”
