Soham Town Council has appointed the contractors which will oversee the refurbishment of the town’s pavilion.

Newmarket-based firm Godfrey and Hicks will be in control when building begins next month. It is expected to be complete by Christmas.

During building, which is going ahead thanks to £542,000 of funding from East Cambs District Council, the entrance to the recreation ground from Fountain Lane will be closed to vehicular traffic, and access to the pavilion building itself will be restricted.

Work to restore the pavilion had been discussed by Soham Town Councillors for over six years before an agreement was made this month.
