Soham student, 13, wins first prize in Cambridgeshire photography competition
A Soham student has won first prize in a photography competition for 11 to 15-year-olds.
Dan Starling’s Kingfisher bird print was the favourite of judges in the Cambridge Camera Club exhibition.
The 13-year-old has been invited to attend the opening ceremony of the exhibition in Cambridge next week.
Dan will be awarded his certificate by George Pippas, Mayor of Cambridge, and his prize by retailers John Lewis.
The free exhibition will take place from Monday April 30 to Saturday May 5 in The Pitt Building on Trumpington Street in Cambridge.
Over 200 prints will be on display and a large screen will display several hundred images, over 100 junior prints entered into the completion will also be displayed.
The Cambridge Camera Club meets every Monday evening from 7.30pm between September and May at the Cambridge Rugby Union Football Club.
A spokesman said: “We are holding our annual exhibition at the Pitt building showcasing some of the best images taken recently by its members.
“As one of the oldest photographic societies in the country and the biggest in East Anglia, its talents are displayed with over 400 print and digital images.”
“The diverse subjects include landscapes, architecture, natural history, people and creative compositions.”
