Seren Palmer, 14, became the national champion in under 14 single sculls at Nottingham on Friday.

Racing in the Omnium event, a mixture of skills and racing saw Seren come out on top of 93 other competitors from all over Great Britain.

Following that first success, Seren raced in a quadruple scull with Lara Foulkes from City of Ely College and twins Madison and Emillie Howard and Emma Huckle from Bottisham Village College.

The girls competed in a time trial, qualified for the b final and then went on to win the b final. They finished seventh overall in the under 14 event quad event.

Seren then went to Moseley Junior regatta on Sunday and after four hard races came away with the winner’s medal.

All of the girls train and race for the Isle of Ely Rowing Club.
