Thousands of pounds were handed out to good causes in Soham this week thanks to funds raised at the town’s popular pumpkin fair.
Three Soham groups received £800 each – Soham Guides, Soham Holiday Playscheme and Soham Friends – from the chairman of the fair committee, Mark Williams, better known as Mr Pumpkin.
This year’s fair was the 39th and saw thousands of people descend on the town’s recreation ground to enjoy a feast of festivities, from the largest pumpkin competition, right through to ferret racing.
The theme of this year’s event was ‘50 years of The Beatles’.
Any local groups or charitable causes which would like to apply for funding from next year’s event should e-mail office@sohampumpkinfair.co.uk before January 31. The e-mail should describing who you are and what you do.
