A SOHAM man who pushed his wife during an argument has been ordered to carry out 80 hours of unpaid work and pay £60 costs.

Julius Porakis, 53, of East Fen Drove, had earlier admitted assaulting Irma Porakiene on November 30.

The incident happened after Mrs Porakiene returned home to find her husband watching television and drinking brandy, said prosecutor Laura Mardell.

"He started to complain about the amount of time she was out, and said she was not giving him enough attention."

After the push, both Mrs Porakiene and the couple's 17-year-old daughter went into a bedroom, and the police were called.

Mitigating, solicitor Jacqui Baldwin said: "He hopes there will be reconciliation, but there is some talking to be done first.
