SOHAM man Roger Allison has commissioned a pewter pot and cover to raise funds for the Help For Heroes campaign. The pint pot and the hand tooled leather cover are to be auctioned at a combined Soham Staploe Rotary and Harley Davidson owners group St George's Day meal at the Cherry Tree in Soham on April 21. When the management of the Cherry Tree heard about the scheme he weighed in with a prize of 50 pints to keep the pot occupied. Written bids are being accepted up to the night of the auction. A top price of 200 was reached within a week of the first bid's acceptance.
On Easter Sunday the Ester egg hunt at the Cherry Tree raised 118 for St Andrews School.
