THE Viva Centre in Soham held its first book sale of the year last weekend (February 20-21), raising more than 500 for centre funds.

Hundreds of people converged on Soham for the event, coming from all across the county to snap up books bargains from as little as 20p. The books had all been donated to the community charity and covered just about every topic under the sun. There were books for children, adults, young adults, hobbyists and enthusiasts in both paperback and hardback.

Frank Crosby, development project manager for Viva said: "We are helping the community by offering low cost books and we are helping the environment by recycling these books so they don't end up in landfill sites".

The next Viva Arts and Community Group book sale is being held on April 17 and 18.
