Sir Jim Paice is urging East Cambridgeshire businesses to apply for the latest round of the Regional Growth Fund, for a share of the £200 million available to the region.

The Regional Growth Fund, which being handed out between now and 2017, was set up in 2011 to support projects and programmes which use private sector investment to support growth and create new jobs.

To date, some £90 million of the funding has been handed out to the East of England to 13 different bids, attracting an additional £400 million of private investment and supporting 15,000 jobs.

Locally, the fund has supported the Eastern England Agri-Tech Growth Initiative, which is looking to establish a new agricultural research hub in Soham.

Sir Jim, MP for SE Cambs, said: “I would encourage local businesses to seize this fantastic opportunity to apply for funding to help them grow and create jobs.

“The fund is already supporting 15,000 jobs and £400 million of private investment in this region, and the new round will help businesses create even more. “Creating more jobs by backing small businesses is a key part of the Government’s long-term economic plan to secure a better future for Britain. Each new job this fund supports means another family with the security of a regular pay packet.”
