DRUG addict Donna Bush needed cash for Christmas so went out shop-lifting in three Ely stores.

She was caught stealing £45.59 worth of cosmetics from Boots, and later admitted similar thefts from Superdrug and Savers.

Bush, 33, appeared before city magistrates on Thursday, when she admitted stealing from Boots on December 11, and asked for the other two thefts to be taken into consideration.

"She has an addiction to heroin, but has a methadone prescription that is reducing," explained solicitor James Dignan.

"On this particular day she was short of money, the offences were committed to raise money at Christmas time."

Bush, a single mum from Newport Avenue, Fordham, was given a 12-month supervision order, and must pay £35 costs.
