Ely in Bloom team pick up Silver Gilt Award in this year’s Anglia in Bloom Awards
REPRESENTATIVES from Ely have been rewarded with a Silver Gilt Award in this year’s Anglia in Bloom Awards. The Ely in Bloom team travelled to Sudbury in Suffolk last week to hear they had received a Silver award for the the third year running.
Ely chairman Shirley Overall said: “I would like to thank the large number of volunteers who worked so hard to make Ely look so beautiful this summer and throughout the year. It is good to see that we are maintaining a consistenely high standard although we still hope for a Gold Award. However, our main task is to provide our community with a beautiful, clean environment and we feel that our lovely hanging baskets and floral displays show how effectively our wonderful volunteers work with the excellent Parks and Open Spaces team from the district council. I would also like to thank the city council, the district council and other organisations for their generous sponsorship. We are always looking for sponsors and volunteers.”
INFO: Call the city council on 01353 661016 if you would like to help with Ely in Bloom in 2011.
