A support group for people with sight loss based in Ely has joined forces with a leading charity to provide greater support to people in the area.

The group, run by Isle of Ely Society for the Blind, has become an affiliated Macular Support Group.

Run by local volunteers, with support from the Macular Society, the group will offer information, encouragement and friendship to people who are affected by macular disease and other sight loss conditions.

The group will then meet at the same time and venue on the second Thursday of each month.

Janet Fisher, Isle of Ely Society for the Blind admin officer, said: “We are pleased to be associated with the Macular Society. Working together will help us reach more people suffering with sight loss in North East Cambridgeshire.”

The Macular Society is the national charity for anyone affected by central vision loss.

The next meeting of the group will take place on July 12, from 10.30am to 12pm, at the Lamb Hotel, in Lynn Road.

For more information about the group, please contact Colin Daniels on 01603 937 449 / 07494 467 995, or email colin.daniels@macularsociety.org
