WILBURTON'S travelling showmen have won backing for their plan to expand their yard on to land in the village's Whitecross Road despite objections.
But a second plan to house caravans and store equipment on land in Station Road has been withdrawn.
Wilburton Parish Council and the village's district councillor, Bill Hunt, objected to both projects.
They were worried that long trailers visiting the site in narrow Whitecross Road would cause traffic problems.
East Cambridgeshire District Council's planning committee, however, backed officers and approved the plans.
