DRINK driver Richard Mozejko was trying to avoid a parking ticket when he drove his Ford Mondeo along the one-way system in Littleport, he explained to magistrates this week.
Forensic tests showed his blood test reading was more than double the legal alcohol limit after he drove along Hitches Street.
"There is only 30-minute parking in front of my flat, so I moved the car to a car park," said 49-year-old Mozejko. "I have had two parking tickets in the past."
Mozejko, of Globe Lane, Littleport, admitted drink-driving and using threatening, abusive or insulting words or behaviour.
He is asking Ely magistrates not to ban him from driving because he drove only a short distance. There will be a special reasons hearing will on May 24.
