SHOPPERS at the Ely branch of Tesco donated more than £800 to the Lisa Barnes Memorial Fund in just two days.

Kind-hearted visitors to the store, on Angel Drove, donated a whopping £839,13 over the course of Friday and Saturday, raising the fund’s total past the £46,000 mark.

Robert Barnes, who launched the fund in October 2010, is aiming to raise £100,000 for The Arthur Rank Hospice Charity in Cambridge. He said: “The people of Ely and the surrounding villages never cease to amaze me with there generosity and there good wishes they are so kind.”
