Service planned by Cambs 876 riders to honour Burwell man killed in First World War

A service to honour a Burwell man who lost in the First World War 100 years ago takes place next month.
As part to the Cambs 876 Remembered Project, on August 8, riders will set off from Anglesey Abbey in Lode and arrive at St Mary’s Church, Burwell, where they will pay their respects to Pte Harry Palmby, 1st Battalion of The Cambridgeshire Regiment.
Cambs 876 Remembered is a commemorative project devised and being conducted by Eastern Region members of the Riders Branch, Royal British Legion.
Commonwealth War Graves Commission (CWGC) records show that 876 officers and soldiers of The Cambridgeshire Regiment, who were killed during the First World War, have memorials at home and abroad.
The fallen are named in 208 cemeteries across six countries: UK, France, Belgium, Netherlands, Germany and Tanzania. The first man fell in 1914 and the last man died in 1921.
The intention of the riders is to honour all 876, as a part of the national First World War centenary commemorations.
