EAST Cambridgeshire sector inspector Adam Gallop is moving on to pastures new following three years leading the policing team in and around the city of Ely.

During his time at Ely he has been involved in the implementation of neighbourhood policing in the district. This has involved the integration of 18 new PCSOs into the local policing team as well as establishing the first neighbourhood panel for the district in Soham.

Inspector Gallop said: "During my three years at Ely I have been part of a number of successful operations and seen a great deal of hard work undertaken by my officers.

"I would like to thank all those people who have helped out and supported their local police and the partner agencies who continue to work alongside us to create a stronger crime fighting team.

Inspector Gallop moves to take on the role of detective inspector, based at Parkside Police Station in Cambridge.

Part of this role will involve taking over as the lead on Operation Guardian, the crack down on street crime in the city.

"I'm extremely pleased to be returning back to detective work and look forward to this new challenge", said Inspector Gallop. "I want to ensure the lives of criminals operating in the city are made as difficult as possible as we target them and work to reduce crime in the area.
