A SECOND accident in as many days saw another motorist killed on the A10 near Stretham on Wednesday.

The incident took place at about 4.30pm near the Lazy Otter along the busy A10, when a black Ford KA left the road and ended up in a field.

Police closed the road between Waterbeach and the A1123 while ambulance crews battled to save Richard Bowles, 51, of St Martin’s Walk in Ely.

Despite frantic efforts however, the 51-year-old was pronounced dead at the scene.

The road was reopened to traffic at about 7pm.

Sgt Nigel Jennings, of the Cambridgeshire Roads Policing Unit, said: “We would like to speak to anyone who saw the vehicle prior to it leaving the road.”

A MAN who died in a collision on the A1123 in Stretham on Tuesday evening has been named by police.

David Alexander Adams, 55, of Cowbit in Lincolnshire,was driving a blue Peugeot 206 on Newmarket Road when he was involved in the smash with a silver Ford Mondeo at about 5.30pm.

Despite frantic efforts to him, he was pronounced dead at Addenbrooke’s Hospital in Cambridge later that evening.

The driver of the Mondeo, a 33-year-old man from the Ely area, suffered minor injuries and was also taken to Addenbrooke’s Hospital for treatment.

Sgt Nigel Jennings of the Cambridgeshire Roads Policing Unit, said: “I would like to hear from anyone who was in the area at the time of the collision or saw either vehicle in the moments leading up to the incident.”
