She met with Mayor of Cambridgeshire & Peterborough, James Palmer and East Cambridgeshire District Council leader, Charles Roberts earlier in the week to discuss an upgrade to the A10 between Ely and Cambridge, before visiting the site of the Ely southern bypass, which is due to open next summer.

She said: “Many constituents continue to highlight the delays they experience on the A10. Upgrading this road is one of my priorities. I will continue to press key stakeholders to progress developments along this route to ease traffic congestion.

“The bypass is a vital project for the residents of Ely and it is great to see the work in action. The site was extremely busy and it was useful to hear how the project is being managed.

“I see my role as continuing to help make sure it is delivered as soon as possible to ease the congestion into our city. I am delighted that we are on track for a summer 2018 delivery.”
