THE 1st Ely Scouts Group has raised funds for international charity Shelter Box to send one of its relief boxes to any disaster area anywhere in the world.
Costing around 600 the box consists of vital resources like a ten person tent, blankets, water filtration and cooking equipment.
Assisted by ShelterBox representatives Ian and Shelia Courts the scouts recently had the opportunity to erect the tent and check out the rest of the equipment in this vital rigid green plastic box that could be shipped to anyone of 200 countries in the world. As each box has its unique number the scouts will also be able to track their box and find out which community in the world will benefit from its usage following some form of disaster.
1st Scouts Group Leader David Allen said: “Thanks really go to the generosity of the customers of Waitrose who continue to support us during our bag-packing activities at the Ely store.
“This has enabled us to raise money not only for our own scouting activities, but also for ShelterBox that is close to the heart of the scouting movement by supporting communities from across the world.”
