EAST Cambridgeshire schools are joining forces to launch a new local history website focusing on life around the River Ouse.

The Ely Schools Partnership, a group of nine schools from Ely, Littleport and Little Downham, is launching its Local History Project Website at Ely Community College on Monday.

Working in partnership with a number of organisations, including Ely Museum and the city's Stain Glass Museum, the project focuses on aspects of history around Ely, Littleport and Little Downham, with the main theme being life around the river Ouse.

The children have produced artwork and video recordings and taken photographs of their work on this project, and these are represented on the multi-media web pages on the partnership's website.

Schools taking part are Ely St Mary's Junior School, Ely St John's Primary School, Spring Meadow Infant and Nursery School, The Lantern Primary School, Highfield Special School, Ely Community College, Downham Feoffees Primary School, Littleport's Millfield Primary School and Littleport Community Primary School.
