MORE than 10 acres of land, some being used by Littleport Primary School, has gone on sale for housing.

The site, with outline planning permission for new homes, is being sold on behalf of Cambridgeshire County Council.

Developers could build about 150 homes on the land and agents handling the sale, who have been involved with the planning process on the site for the last five years, are asking for bids by the end of next month.

The land is divided into two sections. The eastern plot covers an area of just under five acres and is mainly laid to grass and ready for immediate development.

But the western section of 6.1 acres is used by the school and will not be available until February when building work on a new primary school is completed and the old one can be demolished.

John Martin, of agents John Martin and Associates, said: "We have been involved with this site since the beginning and have handled all the planning work including obtaining outline planning consent on appeal.

"The site, which is not in a conservation area, is zoned for residential development in the current local plan for Littleport."

The agents are asking for bids by informal tender to be received at their offices by noon on Friday, September 29.
