A budding writer from Rackham Primary School was one of only 4,500 youngsters to make it through to the next round of a national writing competition.

Year six pupil Sammy, from the school on Main Street in Witchford, entered a story into BBC Radio 2’s 500 words competition, which asked youngsters to pen a story of 500 words or less, with the winners receiving 500 books for their school’s library.

Sammy’s tale was hand-picked from over 123,000 other entries to go into the next round, and the story-writing starlet received a certificate for her efforts last week.
