MORE than 500 East Cambridgeshire residents pledged to save energy when they attended special roadshows recently.

The residents who visited stalls set up outside the district's Co-op food stores agreed to cut their energy consumption by 20 per cent.

They will boil only as much water as needed in their kettles, leave cars at home for short journeys, turn down the central heating and set washing machines to lower temperatures.

Each person who attended the Energy Advice Roadshows held by East Cambridgeshire District Council received a free energy efficient light bulb.
