Inspirational children who champion road safety in their schools across the county came together for the first ever Junior Travel Ambassador conference.
Cambridgeshire County Council organised the inaugural event which saw more than 100 10-year-olds from 15 schools take part in the fun-packed conference at Huntingdon Race Course.
Activities included getting creative to help them to promote being safe and being seen when out and about as well as a theatre workshop and big games.
The Year 5 pupils, who are all junior travel ambassadors, were chosen to represent their schools at the conference which aimed to bring as many of the ambassadors together as possible to share ideas and see that they are part of a wider network.
Launched in September 2015, the Junior Travel Ambassador (JTA) scheme promotes more active and safer travel to and from school.
Aimed at pupils in Year 5, the scheme empowers them to make their own decisions about what they and their fellow pupils think needs to change to improve road safety for their school.
JTA also encourages pupils to get more active and lead healthier lifestyles.
Cllr Mathew Shuter, Cambridgeshire County Council’s chair of the highways and community infrastructure committee, said: “These inspirational youngsters are able to boast some fantastic achievements and have set an excellent example for others to follow.”
