A MOTORIST remains in a serious condition in hospital after a collision in Little Downham on Thursday (Oct 22).The incident took place at around 8.15am on Ely Road between Little Downham and the Ely Bypass when two cars collided, causing petrol and gas to pour out onto the road.
A MOTORIST remains in a serious condition in hospital after a collision in Little Downham on Thursday (Oct 22).
The incident took place at around 8.15am on Ely Road between Little Downham and the Ely Bypass, when two cars collided causing a 150 metre slick of petrol and gas to pour out onto the road.
Fire crews were called to the scene to free an injured driver, believed to be a woman, who was rushed to Addenbrooke's Hospital, Cambridge with serious injuries.
Police and highways officials moved to close the road between Little Downham and the Ely bypass and motorists were advised to avoid the area while removal and cleanup crews were called.
Highways Agency officials managed to reopen the road at around 3.30pm.
