GG’s Italian restaurant closed its doors with immediate effect today - less than three months after the eatery underwent a transformation from steak house to Italian in February.

The owners made the announcement on Facebook posting: “The time has come to call it a day in Littleport. Thank-you for your support over the past four years. If it was not for the support and business we received from the community we would not be where we are today. Our other businesses need our full attention to continue to thrive and focus on our expansion plans. We have closed with immediate effect. Thank-you and goodbye Littleport.”

Members of the Littleport Noticeboard Facebook page questioned what would become of the building with one saying: “It’s such a shame - the building and site could be used to benefit the community - could it possibly be utilised by parish council?”

While another was worried about what would happen to their £30 voucher for a meal at the restaurant.

At the time of the change from steak house to Italian Casey Yendle, director said: “Littleport Steakhouse has been operating successfully for just shy of four years.

“In the last two years we have opened three more steak houses and the Pancake and Waffle Shack near Mildenhall.

“We as a family, and our amazing team around us, needed to make a decision moving forward. Do we go with our hearts and revamp the restaurant, or go with our heads and do something completely different?”

She said they had searched home and abroad to find the best, authentic cook to provide homemade fresh Italian food.
