EAST Cambridgeshire people look set to weather the water shortages scare as reservoirs across the region are almost 90 per cent full.
Anglian Water Authority, which serves 2.6 million properties across East Anglia in one of the driest regions of Britain, but claims water is in plentiful supply.
With 56 per cent of its customers on water meters and one of the best records for fixing leaks the company says it is well-prepared to cope following one of the driest winters.
The authority last imposed a hosepipe ban in 1991 in the east of the region and invested £60 million in the last two severe droughts.
A spokesman said: "Our reservoirs are around 88 per cent full and we are experiencing our first dry winter. We have double the national average of customers on water meters and one of the best records for fixing leaks. We are not anticipating any problems.
