Viva Theatre Group has won the National Operatic and Dramatic Association’s award for Best Musical 2013 in the East for The Sound of Music.

The show, performed in Ely Cathedral’s Lady Chapel in March 2013, was a sell-out and also won the shield for Best Production in the Area at the awards.

Viva’s production of Footloose was also nominated for Best Youth production.

David Tickner, who played Max, collected the award on behalf of Viva on Sunday. Viva members were also introduced to stage and television actress, Clare Buckfield, well known for Dancing on Ice and sitcom 2point4 Children, who is Viva’s new vice president.

Viva will continue to keep busy over the summer months with Pride and Prejudice which will be performed from June 26-28 at St Andrew’s Church, in Soham, and Les Miserables which will be performed from July 16-19 at Ross Peers Sports Centre, in Soham.
