King’s Ely pupils put on a production of High School Musical to packed audiences over three nights in the school’s Hayward Theatre.

The cast and crew worked relentlessly over eight weeks to organise and rehearse the challenging show, made famous by Disney in 2006.

From the moment the cheer leaders took the stage, to the last glittering bang of the final note, the energy and enthusiasm kept the audiences entranced.

Head of King’s Ely Junior, Richard Whymark, said: “The children performed at an exceptional level, transporting us with them to the high school in question and conveying all the emotional angst associated with the popular story.

“Great solo and ensemble performances, together with the lively score, helped to make the show uplifting and full of energy. Congratulations to all the performers, technicians and back stage crew for their achievements. Our gratitude goes to every member of the team behind the production.”
