DRUNKEN teenager Steven Garrett caused almost £400 worth of damage to a van he kicked and punched in Littleport.

"He accepted he was aggressive, he had drunk too much," solicitor Jacqui Baldwin told Ely magistrates. "It was the result of an argument between him and his best friend."

Garrett, 18, of Longfield Road, Littleport, admitted causing damage to the Ford Transit van belonging to Melvin Rogerson on April 1.

"It was a stupid thing to do, and not the best way to start your career as an adult," said presiding magistrate Dr Christine Shaw.

Garrett was given a one year conditional discharge, and told to pay £386.36 compensation.
