The Ministry of Defence (MoD) has appointed a development manager as it begins preparations to bring more than 6,000 homes to former RAF barracks in Waterbeach.
The MoD has appointed Urban & Civic as the development manager for the 716-acre former RAF base at Waterbeach Barracks, which, it says, has potential to create up to 6,500 new homes.
Urban & Civic will work alongside the MoD to progress a planning application, work out what infrastructure will be required on and off site and manage the sale of land.
The site has the potential for around 6,500 homes to be built, along with associated commercial, community and employment uses.
Wendy Ivess Mash, of the MoD, said: “We are very pleased to announce the selection of Urban & Civic as our development manager at Waterbeach Barracks. This appointment is the culmination of a robust yet efficient tender process, which has seen a preferred party selected within seven months.”
