GORDON Brown confirmed on Tuesday that the General Election will be held on May 6 and described the announcement as the "least well-kept secret of recent years". So the excitement and tension starts here, or does it? The candidates will be fired up, of course, and the media always enjoy a good bun fight, but what will the general public be thinking and feeling in four week's time? Excited and full of hope or disillustioned and bored? During the next four weeks, Editor DEBBIE DAVIES and Reporter DANIEL MANSFIELD will talk to a cross-section of the general public in an attempt to get to the heart of what's important, both local and national issues, for our readers. We start this week with the results of a survey we carried out with sixth form pupils at two Ely schools.
