TWO pre-schools in east Cambridgeshire have benefited from cash injections from the Isle of Ely Lions Club.

Barneybears Pre-School in Ely and Wilburton's Humpty's Pre-School received £210 each after fund-raising activities by the Lions.

These included a 'paint a pot' stall at November's Apple Fest and manning Santa's grotto during the big Christmas lights switch-on in December.

Mayor Bryant Watson was also on hand on the night of the presentations to draw the Lions' fund-raising Christmas raffle.

Mark Gordon, the club's press officer, said: "We helped Barneybears and Humpty's because they had specific projects going on.

"We tend to look for organisations who are working on particular projects and help out where we can.
