A Littleport teacher enjoyed an educational visit on how to improve practice thanks to funding from players of the People's Postcode Lottery.

The funds enabled Cambridgeshire teachers to attend an enrichment residential thanks to £100,000 to The Prince’s Teaching Institute (PTI).

Following this valuable support, and with additional funding by The Active Learning Trust (ALT), 10 teachers from the trust attended a course for for teachers of history, modern languages, mathematics and science.

Alice Eastham, a history teacher at Littleport and East Cambs Academy said: “The PTI residential has been a fantastic opportunity to boost my subject knowledge, reflect on my own practice and have meaningful discussions about what makes an effective and inspiring curriculum.

“What I have learnt here will have a real impact on all of my students and I cannot wait to tell and my colleagues all about it.”

Gary Peile, chief executive of the Active Learning Trust, said: “The Active Learning Trust is committed to providing varied and up to date continued professional development. This ensures that the schools within the Trust are continually improving their approaches and are ultimately providing the best possible learning for all of our students.

“As a result of the PTI residential, the teachers will be able to further boost history, modern languages, maths and science subject knowledge and practice across all of the schools within the Trust.

“The next step for the 10 teachers who attended the residential is for them share their learning with all subject leaders across the Trust, ensuring that the Active Learning Trust continues to be outward facing in its learning approach.”
