A SOHAM woman who drove her car around Ely Market Place with a teenager clinging to the bonnet faces a possible driving ban.

Jessica Green told city magistrates this week that she already has six points endorsed on her licence for an insurance offence - but claimed she had an insurance document for the relevant period.

And with the prospect of the court putting another six points on her licence for the way she drove on the Market Place, she could be banned for collecting 12 or more points.

City magistrates agreed to adjourn sentencing for three weeks, so Green could investigate the possibility of her first points being wiped off the licence.

Prosecutor Nick Davies told how a teenager sat on the bonnet of Green's car as she drove around in circles.

Green accelerated her 55-registered Vauxhall Astra and then stopped suddenly, with the person on the bonnet still clinging to the vehicle.

Green had previously driven around a bollard and on to the Market Place, where a number of teenagers had congregated.

Two different youngsters had ridden on the bonnet, and she had later driven away without putting her lights on.

Green, 20, of West Drive Gardens, Soham, was convicted of the careless driving offence last month.
