A popular lay-by café on the A142 is to be taken over by a new owner.
Linda Hitchings has been granted a street trading licence by East Cambridgeshire District Council and is set to take over the Oasis mobile café that operates in a lay-by between Stuntney and Soham.
The café has been run from the location for the last 14 years but the current owners told the council that they wished to sell the business to Ms Hitchings.
Because street trading licences cannot be transferred, Ms Hitchings had to apply to the council’s licensing sub-committee but councillors heard that there were no objections from neighbours or officials to the plans.
The council’s licensing officer, Stephen Carrington, said: “The business ran by the current licence holder has been in existence at this location, on the lay-by on the A142 between Soham and Stuntney, for 14 years and has traded without any issues being raised with the council.”
The café will continue to operate from Monday to Saturday, from 8am-3pm.
