Police have vowed to step up patrols in Soham after the start of the summer holidays saw a surge in reports of drunken and rowdy behaviour.
PCSO Magdalena Harvey said that officers had received “a number of reports” in recent weeks relating to children in parks surrounding Foxwood South and the Kingfisher Estate playing loud music, causing criminal damage and swearing.
She said: “This type of behaviour is not acceptable and we are increasing our patrols to deter further incidents from being reported.”
In one incident, which took place on July 24, PCSO Harvey said she responded to a call about youngsters shouting and swearing in nearby Blackthorn Court and arrived to find a large amount of alcohol.
She added: “On my arrival some of the group made off on foot leaving some of their friends behind.
“On speaking with the remaining group a quantity of alcohol was found in their possession and seized due to them being underage. Letters have been produced to send home to their parents.
“I have also been made aware from residents about a number of mopeds riding around Soham causing a nuisance. Although the moped riders have driving licences and their mopeds are legally held, their manner of riding, including riding off road in green areas and parks and speeding, is not.
