Police have issued a warning to shoppers in Ely to be aware of pickpockets after reports of two incidents in the city.
PCSO Ian Hawkins said officers had received two reports of ‘purse dippers’ being active in Ely on Wednesday and urged shoppers to be extra cautious over the coming days.
He said: “We are doing all we can to identify the offenders and deter further offences.
“If you are out shopping in the near future, please make sure you are securing your purse in your bag and keep a watch out for anyone who gets a bit too close to you.
“If you notice someone trying your handbag then call us immediately on 999, if you notice a while after then call us on 101.”
