ELY detectives are appealing for witnesses following a dispute outside the city's Hereward pub on Friday night.
No-one was injured during the incident but it is believed one man involved may have been carrying two knives.
Officers were called at around 11pm and around the same time the window of a door in a house in Chapel Street was smashed. Police believe the town incidents may be linked.
Ely police detective constable, Nick Cook, who is investigating, said: "I would appeal to anyone who was in the Chapel Street area on Friday night and saw either incident to contact me."
A 23-year-old man from Ely was arrested on suspicion of affray and criminal damage and has been bailed to return to Cambridge's Parkside Police Station on Tuesday, May 29.
