MORE than 300 drivers were breath tested in Huntingdon on Friday (December 17) as part of the ongoing drink-drive campaign.
So far, 95 people have been arrested as part of the Cambridgeshire campaign which will run throughout December.
PC Tony Barrios, casualty reduction officer, said: �We are stopping and breathalysing more motorists than ever before as part of our campaign and it is inevitable that we will see an increase in the number of arrests.
“It is always disappointing to find there are still motorists out there who think it is acceptable to drive while under the influence.”
Drivers could be breathalysed at a number of stop checks which will be set-up across the county over the coming weeks.
PC Barrios added: “Cambridgeshire Constabulary is committed to reducing the number of drink drivers on our roads and we will do all we can to ensure that those over the limit or under the influence of drugs are caught and dealt with robustly.”
Of those tested on Friday one person was arrested on suspicion of drink driving and later released with no further action.
