THE Littleport Show will not take place this year, but things are already in place to ensure that the event in July next year will be even bigger and better.
The Littleport show committee says it has been inundated with calls from people wanting to know what's happening with the event. "The Littleport Show committee appreciates the many calls of support that they have received recently," said a committee spokesman.
"We are equally saddened that the show will not go ahead for 2006 but are very encouraged by the positive response of the Littleport people towards the show continuing in its usual and traditional format at the Highfield setting next year.
"Next year's event will be held on July 21, 2007 and the packed programme will contain day and evening entertainment. Plans are already underway to make the show even bigger and better than ever before. Already the main arena event has been provisionally secured, and although the committee don't want to give anything away, they believe it will be a real crowd-pleaser.
"Without giving anything away, next year's show will undoubtedly be the most spectacular entertainment package of the show's most recent history. Littleport Show 2007 will be a show to rival all other shows," the spokesman added.
n The Littleport Show is organised by a committee of local independent people, all volunteers, and is traditionally held annually for the sole purpose of providing entertainment and enjoyment for the local community. However, it also acts as a fund-raising umbrella, and as well as supporting many local and national charities, funds raised by the staging of the show have, over the years, helped many local worthy causes.
