LITTLEPORT Labrador Max was crowned the Ely Standard Pet of the Year this week.
The two-year-old pooch fended off some stiff competition from more than 120 pets, including a snake, a hedgehog and dozens of cats to take the crown, and 50-worth of dog food vouchers, courtesy of Tescos in Ely.
Owner Sarah McLaughlin, 13, decided to enter Max after seeing last year’s awards in the paper.
Sarah said: “We were very surprised when we heard that he had won, we have to courtesy when we see him now!”
