Mepal Parish Council met on Monday, November 13 in the village hall.

The following planning issues were discussed:

# Retrospective planning permission refused for the erection of wire netting trellis at 2 Chestnut Way.

# Full planning permission granted for the part change of use of ex-farm buildings to granny annexe at Fortrey House, 16 Bridge Road.

# Full planning permission granted for single storey rear extension to 20 High Street.

# A proposal is presented to the meeting by the finance working party for the setting of the estimated figure for the 2007/8 precept. Expenditure to the total of £22,900 is detailed.

This would equate to a rise in Council Tax for a Band D property by £4.62 per annum. All councillors agree that this figure should be submitted to East Cambridgeshire District Council.

There is still a casual vacancy for a parish councillor. It is agreed that no further action, other than advertising the vacancy on the parish council noticeboard, should be taken until the new year.

The next meeting of Mepal Parish Council is on Wednesday, January 10, 2007 at 7.30pm in Mepal Village Hall. All meetings are open to members of the public and those interested in local issues are very welcome to attend.
