THE first meeting year was held in the village hall and the chairman reported Georgina King has resigned with effect from February 7. Thanks are extended to Mrs King for the contribution she has made during her term.
Mr Stazicker, secretary of Mepal village hall Management Committee, addressed the meeting regarding the plans for the proposed improvements to the village hall. All councillors offered their support to these proposals.
The clerk reported that she has spoken to PC Treharne regarding residents' concerns at the parking problems in Laurel Close. PC Treharne has agreed to visit the site but no feedback has been received. An on- site meeting will be arranged with the Highways Dept to look at the problems and possible solutions. Following this a meeting will be organised with the residents of Laurel Close.
Mr Green and Mrs Stazicker undertook the clerk's annual appraisal in January. As a result, the salary increase agreed within the clerk's terms and conditions of employment will be implemented from April 1.
Following discussion, it was agreed that the theme for this year's Annual Parish Assembly will be "Our Environment." The event will take place on Monday April 24 at 7.30pm in Mepal Village Hall.
A report was read by the clerk confirming that the computer access point is now producing Mepal People. Thanks are extended to them for undertaking this role. The parish council will continue to act as the fund holder for Mepal People.
The clerk and Mr Slough confirmed that the Parish Paths Partnership scheme with Cambridgeshire County Council will continue for 2006/7. Details of the work carried out so far and that proposed for the next financial year were given.
The clerk presented a health and safety report produced by Mr Stacey. A risk assessment needs to be undertaken of the clerk's arrangements for home working. It is agreed that Mr Stacey will undertake this task and become Health & Safety Officer for Mepal Parish Council. The risk assessment of the recreation field carried out by Mrs King needs to be reallocated.
