Pupils at Stretham Primary School enjoyed an inspirational talk from a visiting Paralympic skier and adventurer on Friday.

Sean Rose, originally from Middlesbrough but now of St Neots, was paralysed in a skiing accident in 2000 and competed in the Winter Paralympics at Turin 2006 and Vancouver 2010.

He was part of a team of four men who tried to snow-kite 185 miles across a glacier in Iceland earlier this year, but they had to abort their challenge due to illness.

As well as delivering an assembly, Mr Rose cheered on the pupils while, dressed as their sporting heroes, they did a school circuit to raise funds for Children in Need and pay for new sports equipment for the school.

Teachers got in on the act too, with one dressing as their hero Ian Botham.

Teacher and PE co-ordinator Sammy Komiskey said: “It was a fantastic day. Sean gave an inspirational speech and got some of the children to come up and use his equipment.”
