MISJUDGING an overtaking manoeuvre led to motorist Renan Salviato being involved in a head-on collision.
On a dark morning last December, the 23-year-old overtook a vehicle along Chain Causeway at Sutton, and collided with an oncoming van.
"I decided to overtake, there was a car coming, but I could only see small lights so thought it was far away," Salviato told police. "It was travelling much faster than I thought."
Salviato, of The Row, Sutton, admitted driving carelessly and was fined £130. Seven points were endorsed on his licence and he must pay £100 costs.
