AT the meeting on February 16, Ruth Ginn opened proceedings and Vera Seal introduced Daniel Schunmann as the afternoon's entertainer. Dan, dressed in black shirt and trousers with a cream jacket, is well known to most members. He has a pleasant voice, which was backed by taped music. Dan read a variety of short stories and jokes. The show was based on a Valentine Day theme and Dan also asked for audience participation in one short story he had written that involved a trio of volunteers, two of whom read their scripts and the third frantically changed hats to match the story line. The members were reluctant to let Daniel go at the end of the show and hope to see him again as he provided wonderful entertainment. Members were reminded to arrive at 2pm on Friday, February 23. Tickets for the St George's Day luncheon will be on sale from Peggy Gibbon shortly; members £3, non members £10. Refreshments were served and Vera Seal organised the raffle.
