MRS Murfitt welcomed members to the meeting on May 26. The announcements were given out by P Gibbon. This afternoon, the ladies were joined by the gentlemen to listen to the afternoon's speaker. Vera Seal was pleased to welcome Jack Scrivener and his wife from Wooditton. Jack would be celebrating his 86th birthday on May 27 and before Jack began his talk the members joined in the singing of Happy Birthday. Jack had been a prisoner in World War Two, and during the afternoon he gave a very moving account of the horrific experiences that he and his comrades suffered during this time. Jack brought a picture board to the meeting relating to his talk, which the members could have a look at. Vera Seal thanked him on behalf of the members. Refreshments were served and Vera organised the raffle. The meeting was brought to a close with the singing of the club hymn.

A total of 2.6miles.
