The new Rotary Year at the Ely Hereward Rotary Club began this week when retiring president Christine Gascoigne handed over her chain of office to John Yates after a successful year of fundraising and social activities.
Incoming president John will be in for a busy year – he is also the new deputy mayor of Ely, and will be mayor of Ely and president of the club from next spring.
Before the handover, which took place in the Lamb Hotel, Christine’s final act as president was to present a cheque for £500 to Act4Kidz, one of the local charities the club has supported this year.
Act4Kidz is run entirely by volunteers, and provides activities and support for children with all types of disabilities and additional needs.
